Organized Mom-Zine

Summer Edition 2013

Welcome to Summer! Here in Colorado, we're off to a mild start. Some parents dread this time of year when the kids are out of school. This issue of The Organized Mom-zine is dedicated to keeping you sane during the dog days of summer...and mess...and noise...well, you get the idea...Let's get started!

Have you ever considered going camping with your family? It can be a blast if you're prepared. Luckily, I've done the hard part for you: Don't even pack your tent before you read this camping checklist. Whether it's one day or more, camping with your kids creates memories for a lifetime. It's not too hard to do if you know what to avoid and how to prepare...

Ok so maybe not so much on the camping? How about a car trip? Let's face it--airfare for the entire family can be prohibitive...but that doesn't mean that you can't travel anywhere! Here's what you need to know about driving with your kids and not losing your mind. Give it a try! I guarantee that these ten tips to survive a family road trip will help you have fun...or at least have fun memories!

Ok next tip--while it's totally natural to loosen up on structure during the summertime, many kids still crave routines. Here's what you can do to not lose ground with your kids this summer. Being flexible is important, but don't let go of the routines you may have set up so far...

Here's a bonus article for your consideration. I don't want to add anything more to your plate! At all! So if you're at your limit, just skip to the end! But IF you have a little more time this summer for any additional projects, may I suggest a little cooking with your kids?

I know! I know! It sounds like more work! And in the beginning, it is. BUT...if you spend a little time now, teaching your kids how to cook, I PROMISE it will pay off! IF you want tips on how to teach your kids how to cook...click here Imagine in the fall, when the kids are back to school and things are nutso...if each kid were in charge of cooking a meal--even if it's super simple and easy--how awesome that would be...Trust me and give it a try...?

Good luck!
